Qualifications & Experience

I have a first class BSC Hons degree in Software Engineering. Since graduating in 2003 I have worked as a software engineer, developer, project manager, team leader in both private industry and public sectors where I worked on a variety of enterprise software systems mainly web oriented large and small projects on my own and in teams of several people. I have been fortunate enough to see projects from several perspectives in my various roles and have a good understanding of the many differing clients and what they require from software systems to support their concerns. I love the new found creativity that design allows me to express and it gives me a change from the highly technical nature of programming. I do still love to design applications from the ground up though to a set of requirements. I firmly believe in working closely with the customer to ensure a best fit and most desirable outcome for all parties involved in a project. I view success as achieving the very best quality and functionality given the time and resources available many aspects of which are purely the client’s choice in terms of how much money they would like to spend and what deadlines they are working to. I’m a great believer in getting the job done and will do everything within my power to ensure deadlines are met, my flexible approach to the hours I work allows me to work late into the night if required to do so. We all know that this should not happen if project planning is efficient but sometimes it is unavoidable and I am committed to providing the highest quality service to my clients.

Web Design

End to end service if required, from initial concept composites to static HTML, CSS applied to a simple website, a content management system or a custom built web application. Any project considered from a couple of static pages to a fully blown e-commerce system.

System Design/Development

I can design a system from scratch to fulfil niche requirements of your particluar business or build a web application from readily available open source systems depending upon a client’s unique requirements. Naturally what I use depends on many aspects such as time, how much you plan to spend and what kind of system you require. Again, any project will be considered from the very simplest web application to a custom written web application for your business.

Content Management

I can help you set up your own content management system and help you with your initial content planning and management. I can also carry on the content management for you at agreed rates and expectations naturally. If you plan to do your own content management eventually then I can also provide one to one training in the use of WordPress to accomplish what you need. As previously mentioned, I will consider any project and work on the basis of helping my clients get the best service tailored to their individual requirements.

Where I work

I prefer to work from home but can arrange to come to your offices(within reasonable distance of Chesterfield, Derbyshire) at least for initial consultation work and subsequent planning meetings.I can also work completely remotely, corresponding via email, telephone or video conferencing thus I am available globally. Overseas clients may well see this as a major benefit as I can work while they sleep.
